M-Alain Bertoni (they/them) is a multi-racial queer storyteller specializing in surreal horror and experimental films. Their work focuses on the blurring of boundaries between self-identity and media, using formats of the past to explore the present.
Their films have screened in the NYC Filmmakers Co-Op New Year/New Works festival, United States Super 8 Film and Digital Video Festival, Oxford Film Festival, Northeast Film Festival Horror Fest, and the Yale in Hollywood Festival.
No Signal is a silent experimental film, shot on 35mm film and 8mm Video. Born out of a Mono no Aware workshop, the film explores the experience of derealization in relation to the media-driven world we live in. No Signal features Megan Boehmcke as the sole actor, and an original score by avant-garde composer michael gancz.
